Mortgage Brokers in Utah

The Utah Division of Real Estate regulates and provides licenses to all mortgage broker applicants within the state of Utah. It is unlawful for any person to act as a mortgage broker without a Residential Mortgage Lender License. In addition to various fees, all applicants must successfully complete 20 hours of academic study followed by successful completion of the Utah licensing examination. Those who fail to pass this examination cannot legally practice within the state of Utah. Therefore, it is highly recommended that all consumers ask to view a copy of a broker’s license prior to engaging in any mortgage activity.

Some consumers may benefit from unconventional Utah loans. Various loans such as the first time homebuyer’s loan may be a wise choice for those who qualify. The best way to find out if you qualify for this type of loan is to speak with a licensed broker. Alternately, conducting a bit of research on your own is a good way to determine the types of loans you should be considering.
